What Will I Learn?

In Year 8, pupils will build on the work in Year 7. The design process will be used to develop quality products. Pupils will make a container project to further their making skills. They will also study mechanics to make a lever toy and have an introduction to electronics.

How Will I Be Assessed?

The booklet work will be assessed at stages throughout the projects. There will also be self-assessment and peer assessment.

What Different Types of Activities Will I Do Over Time to Help Me Learn?

All projects will be delivered in a range of teaching styles. The activities will include theory and practical work. There will be many opportunities for individual, peer and group work.

How Will This Help Me to Progress to the Next Year or Key Stage?

This is good preparation for the Year 9 work which requires precision and attention to detail in the jewellery project and independent learning skills in the enterprise project.

Year 9

What Will I Learn?

In Year 9, pupils will learn enamelling and jewellery making skills in order to produce their own piece of jewellery. They will also take part in an enterprise project and as group develop their own commercial product and also complete a batch product project.
