Year 10

What Will I Learn?

INTRODUCTION TO DESIGNING AND MAKING In this unit you will work with a given theme and undertake research before designing and making a suitable textile prototype. You will also study sustainable design within the context of textiles & the textile industry.

How Will I Be Assessed?

Controlled assessment will be undertaken which will account for 30% of your final grade.
The theoretical content will be assessed through an externally set exam taken at the end of Year 11

  • Carrying out practical tasks to build upon skills.
  • Working on individual extended projects which combine designing and making.
  • Group work.

Year 11

What Will I Learn?

MAKING QUALITY PRODUCTS This unit builds on the skills and abilities developed in Year 10. In this unit, you will select a different topic and focus and develop a for a particular target group. You will develop your planning skills, creativity and original design thinking.  You will carry out a range of practical activities to make an appropriate quality textile product.

How Will I Be Assessed?
