Copleston High School

Online and Remote Learning

In the event of school closures or partial closures for any reason, our curriculum will be delivered remotely when required and resources will also be placed on Satchel, our online homework platform.

Students will be sent "meeting invites" which will allow them to join their timetabled lessons. These should appear in their school e-mail inbox but will also show up via the Teams calendar once they have logged in. From here, they will be able to join the lesson at the allocated time. They must use their school log-in to do this. The file below outlines the expected protocols for this.  Please also read the privacy statement for online lessons.

Learning through COVID-19 lockdowns

Along with the rest of the education community, we had to adapt very quickly to online learning during the first COVID lockdown. We used our established SharePoint platform, setting up a dedicated area for lesson resources which were updated daily. As quickly as we were able to, we made the transition from paper-based lessons to live lessons delivered on Microsoft Teams. The frequency of these was gradually increased as students and staff developed proficiency in use of Teams and were able to adapt their lessons accordingly. Both students and staff were able to work creatively, finding ways to make use of live working in shared documents, online whiteboards and the chat function, ensuring that students without access to microphones could still be involved in lessons. As a school, we learnt a great deal during this period and developed resources which have since been incorporated into in-school lessons.  Student engagement with these lessons was generally good and those who attended all lessons were able to maintain a good level of continuity in their studies. We have since offered various catch-up programmes and tutorials for those who needed it.

Please See below for the privacy notice for online lessons and a student guide to Teams with protocols.   also included is the guidance provided during Covid (DFE TEmplate), which may still be of use for reference.
