World Book Day 2022

Students collected their vouchers and began in earnest to enjoy reading their new books. This is part of our donging reading programme where we aim to encourage reading at all levels across the school day and beyond.

Motivation Sep 2021

As we progress through the Key Stage 4 learning journey, we offer our students the exciting opportunity to access a study skills session from Maximize. This session was held on Tuesday 14 September 2021 with the year group split into halves. One half had their session in the morning and the other had their session in the afternoon. Each session was two hours long.

Maximize specialise in offering bespoke study skills session for students in their secondary school years.. They deliver practical advice, and effective strategies to build pupils knowledge and confidence in revision, assessment and exam situations. They increase motivation, inculcate better study practice, build resilience through tips on stress management and as a result raise attainment of students.  Students have found these sessions invaluable as they progress on to their next phase of their career path.

Reading Project July 2021 with local charity 'Let's Talk Reading'. Copleston was approached by a representative from the charity based in Ipswich wanting to donate books to local families who may be finding it difficult to access books during lockdown with libraries being closed. We delivered book bags for all to enjoy to approximately 50 families who were really pleased on receiving them. One mum said:

"Hi

Thank you so much for the books, I thought they would just be for my daughter, so was really excited when they arrived and they were for all the family to enjoy!  We all love reading it’s our escape and has become more important over the last year.  As we have just been at work or at home, it’s nice for our minds to be somewhere else.  It was so lovely to get some books especially as the libraries are not as accessible at the moment, we enjoy touching and looking at books, so online reading is not the same.  Thanks again these books have mainly already been read, and they are now in a pile to pass on to family and friends when allowed for them to enjoy."
