Copleston High School

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme (D of E) is a real adventure from beginning to end.  It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.  Find out more from the D of E website by following this link.

You can do programmes at three levels, which when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards.  You achieve your Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections.
By doing D of E you'll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and if you go for Gold, taking part in a residential activity.

The best bit is - you get to choose what you do!  Your programme can be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing, and along the way you’ll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
At Copleston we give you the opportunity to complete the four main requirements of the Bronze Award:

  • Volunteering
  • Physical
  • Skills
  • Expedition

We currently offer the Bronze Award to pupils who are in Year 10. We launch for our groups during the second week of September. This is where we give a presentation during the assembly and hand out first interest letters. Once we know what response we get, we soon begin the interview system, where we encourage our pupils to actively prove that they have what it takes to continue with the Duke of Edinburgh.
